This course on creature animation for visual effects projects will focus on creating believable creature motion and performance through knowledge of real animals and using that knowledge to inform the movement of a fantasy creature. David Breaux will discuss some of his techniques for blocking, moving into rough animation, and finalization of a shot. He will also cover some approaches to thinking about the shots and tackling the multitude of issues that an animator is confronted with on a daily basis during production.

Originally from New Orleans, David Breaux studied Illustration at The Columbus College of Art and Design, with a dream to become an animator or creature effects/makeup artist, whichever came first. Many years later and with many more projects under his belt, he still gets a kick out of seeing the final product after everyone on the team has contributed there department's magic. Every project has something new to learn, discover or be in awe of.
From his early days in the video game industry, to his recent film projects Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, TRON: Legacy, and most recently Real Steel, he's had a chance to work with characters and creatures in some of the most advanced visual effects films of their time. Along with this came the opportunity to work with some of the best visual effects facilities and creative talents in the industry. He has currently been working for commercial and TV visual effects studios on projects like the Steven Spielberg produced Terra Nova series and the Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City cinematic.
