安裝了Vista Codec Package以後，你無需安裝其他的codec或者filter，這個解碼包囊括幾乎所有常用支持格式的解碼。

這個解碼包不包括播放器，也不會主動關聯相應的文件類型。安裝了該解碼包之後，你可以用任何的播放器播放DVD，電影和視頻剪輯(比如Quicktime，AVI之類的)。同時，這個解碼包也支持在網絡瀏覽器中播放流媒體。另外，在安裝後，你無需做任何設置便可立即享受視頻回放。


Codecs have always been a big problem for the computer users. That's because there has never been a 100% viable working solution available for the average computer user. There are several good codec package solutions out there, but none of them did everything i wanted. I was always in need of a tweak, adjustment, or even a reinstallation just to get the codecs I needed/wanted and most of the time, the file still didn't play. I've never claimed to be a media guru. My media experience is to doubleclick a file i downloaded and hope that it plays. What I do know is how to package software. So I decided to package some codecs and share them with the rest of the world. With this package all possible conflicts are already dealt with. Many user suggested default settings are implemented,

[color=DarkOliveGreen]It does not contain a media player and it doesn't associates filetypes. With this package installed you will be able to use any media player, limited only by the players' capabilities, to play DVD's, movies and video clips of almost any filetype. Streaming video is supported in all popular web browsers. By default you won't need to make any adjustments to enjoy a variety of media content immediately. Users have the ability to choose what is installed using the public redistributable or after an unattended install, you can select to remove specific portions without removing the entire package. Future releases will recognize previous releases and are capable of performing upgrade installations.

Do you want to watch your favorite video in MediaCenter?
These components are tested on Vista Ultimate x64. This release is fully compatible with the 32bit codecs installed by the Vista Codec Package. It is fully uninstallable through the Windows interface.

Windows Vista x64 is required. This release will not install on a x86 systems.

NOTE: Uninstall older versions first.

- update ffdshow 1604 (mutithreaded h264)
- improve RealMedia browser support
- remove all QuickTime components
- maintain MOV and 3GP playback without QT
- offer QuickTime Lite for VCP separately

- repair broken shortcuts
- minor registry changes for VCP 453
