Real-time statistics and network availability from any Web browser.
Orion is a comprehensive Web-enabled fault, bandwidth and performance management platform, providing broad network visibility and monitoring in an extremely affordable solution that takes minutes to install and configure, is remarkably easy to use and yet scales to the size of almost any corporate network.
Network engineers within midsize and enterprise companies who are asked to maintain 100% availability of mission-critical network resources, in ever changing environments, with limited budgets and IT staff, turn to Orion. Orion allows users to quickly spot, isolate, diagnose and repair problems before they impact business users.
Real-time views of network performance and availability statistics, as well as detailed monitoring, collection and analysis of data from routers, switches, servers and any other SNMP-enabled devices, provides users with a comprehensive view of their network's health.
Network Engineers rely on Orion to monitor:
Availability
Network Latency
Bandwidth Utilization
Interface Errors & Discards
CPU & Memory Utilization
Volume Usage
Node, Interface and Volume Status
Buffer Usage & Errors
Orion Network Performance Monitor offers several benefits to users that conventional network monitoring platforms do not:
* Quick implementation time - Orion can usually be installed and collecting data within an hour. Many conventional NMS systems take weeks to just deploy basic monitoring, reporting and alerting.
* Low operational cost - Orion runs on Windows servers. These systems are significantly less expensive to operate and maintain than legacy Unix systems.
* Ease of use and reliability - Orion is a proven product designed by network engineers for network engineers. The intuitive user interface and wizard-based setup doesn't require costly installation, training and configuration fees.
* Scalability - Orion can scale by simply adding polling engines that share a common Open SQL database and user interface. Whether your network is 50 devices or 10,000 devices, Orion is able to support your environment without major configuration changes.
Orion Network Performance Monitor Features
Fault Management & Availability Tools
View the status of thousands of nodes and interfaces from a single Web page. Select between up/down, bandwidth utilization, interface traffic, errors and discards and signal-to-noise ratio (for broadband networks). Every element is "hot" allowing an immediate viewing of the alert and to drill into the router, switch, or server in question.
Custom MIB Support
Customers can create a custom poller to monitor any SNMP-enabled device value that has a MIB, which amounts to virtually any statistic that a network device records. Examples of custom MIB monitoring include monitoring temperature
CPU, Memory and Disk Space Monitoring
Monitor and set alerts on the CPU load and memory utilization of your Cisco, Foundry, Extreme, Motorola, ARRIS, Linux, Solaris, HPUX, AIX, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, and Win XP devices. Monitor the disk space utilization for Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Win XP, Sun, Novell, and other devices that support the host resource MIB. Summary screen identifies the Top 10 CPU load and memory utilization issues in your network.
SNMP Compatibility
Orion allows more secure polling of SNMP values from any device that supports SNMP v3. Orion can also receive SNMP traps, which are specially-configured notifications sent by network devices when unusual events are detected on that node.
Syslog Viewer
The Orion Syslog Viewer allows the Network Performance Monitor to receive and process syslog messages from any type of device. Syslog messages are real-time messages that network devices generate to notify about a specific event within the device. Now you can receive, filter, view, alert and manage all syslog messages from a single console, or even remotely, from the Web interface.
Network Maps
Import any map from an existing network diagram, topology map or even a map of the world. The Map Maker can import a map and make it "hot" by dragging nodes onto it. When the map is saved, it is immediately updated with the current status of the added nodes. Map Maker allows grouping of a network into regions, districts, sub-networks and unique locations.
Sophisticated Alerting
With Orion you can specify what kind of alerts they want to receive and set thresholds for alerting on up/down percent of bandwidth utilized, memory utilized, CPU utilized, disk space utilized and much more. There are hundreds of possible configurations and parameters for alerting and reporting. Orion will send e-mail to any compatible device, including cell phones.
