MPC(Media Player Classic)是一個免費的WMP(Windows Media Player)外殼程序。它非常小巧，只需一個主程序即可。外觀酷似 WMP6.4，但它的功能卻是後者遠不能及的。MPC 不僅可以播放所有WMP支持的格式，甚至連GIF動畫都不放過，而且效果很不錯。如果您已經安裝了Real、QuickTime、Flash解碼器，那麼這些這些類型的媒體也能使用它來播放。
MPC 還加強了 DVD 回放，並集成視頻捕捉的功能。它還有一個足以傲視眾多播放器的資本，就是內建的 Vobsub 字幕引擎和 Subresync 字幕編輯器。對 DVDrip 愛好者來說，MPC 絕對是首選。但如果您的操作系統不是 Windows XP/2k3， 那麼它將需要 DirectX 9 (或更高版本)的支持才能直接為 DirectShow 媒體加載字幕。
Media Player Classic is an extremely light-weight media player for Windows. It looks just like Windows Media Player 6.4, but has many additional extra features. MPC has, for instance, a built in DVD player with real-time zoom, support for AVI subtitles, QuickTime and RealVideo support (requires QT and/or Real player); built-in MPEG2/SVCD/DVD codec.
It also supports SVCD/CVD selectable subtitles and lots more. The best part about Media Player Classic is the ability to modify the filters when playing your favorite video files.

Changes in Media Player Classic 6.4.9.1:
• Applied patches:
- ffdshow queue support (1015/1222)
- removed subtitle db stuff
- Disable monitor powersaving during playback on Windows Vista
• Changed some default settings:
- use Overlay Mixer renderer
- enable VMR9 mixer mode
- no rewind when done
- no looping
- enable exit fullscreen at end of playback
- disable file history
- disable autoloading of subs
- disable internal AVI/Matroska/MPEG/MP4/OGG source filters
- disable internal AAC/AC3/DTS/LPCM/Vorbis/MPEG2 transform filters
- use RealMedia framework for all RealMedia files (except .rmvb)
- disable WM ASF reader
• Other changes:
- auto-load subtitles option now also applies to embedded subs
- added the following extensions to formats list: .divx .hdmov .rmm .rnx
- added two shaders: Levels (16-235 -> 0-255) and nightvision effect
- Better looking icon
- Incremented some version numbers
